Free festival celebrates WNC’s outdoor industry with outdoor brands vendor village, gear demos, family activities, local food & beverages, and more.

The Outdoor Business Alliance of WNC is excited to announce the 11th annual Get In Gear Fest, presented by Fred Andersen Subaru, taking place April 25th at New Belgium Brewing (21 Craven St.) in the heart of Asheville’s River Arts District on the French Broad River corridor. Attendees can look forward to free activities for all ages and outdoor experience levels including a pop-up kids bike park and Community Bike Ride hosted by Asheville on Bikes, an adults jump skills clinic hosted by MTB Skills Factory, hammocking, foraging, and more. Try on and purchase clothing, bike bags, packs, shoes, tents, kayaks, climbing rope beverage cozies and much more – outdoor gear designed and made right in Western North Carolina. Meet the wonderful folks that make up the local outdoor industry community.

The Outdoor Business Alliance is also excited to launch a special campaign during Get in Gear Fest that celebrates WNC’s outdoor guides and outfitters. “Go with a Guidehighlights guided outdoor experiences while supporting the region’s post-Helene recovery — because WNC is greening up for the outdoor seasons, our trails and towns are open, and our rivers are running. From waterfall hikes and mountain biking to fly fishing, climbing, kayaking, rafting, adaptive trails and more — local outfitters and guides across the Blue Ridge Mountains are ready to make WNC outdoor adventures unforgettable.

From its inception in 2013, the Outdoor Business Alliance has now grown to over 175 member businesses and supporting organizations. The alliance’s contributions have been instrumental in bolstering the economic development of WNC, elevating the region’s outdoor industry profile, and contributing to North Carolina’s thriving $17.8 billion outdoor recreation economy.

Get in Gear Fest will take place on April 25, from 12 pm to 5 pm and is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to walk or ride their bike to the festival. There will be limited parking on site. Asheville Jeep Tours and Pedal Cab Co will offer attendees shuttles to their vehicles in the surrounding area.
