What inspired you to found Tsuga, and how has your background in the outdoor industry influenced the design and development of your products?

I was originally drawn to Boone because of my love for climbing and the outdoors in general. I came to spend as much time outdoors as I possibly could. That led to employment at Misty Mountain Threadworks, Black Diamond, and occasionally with some of the climbing/challenge tower companies in the area. Pursuing my outdoor interests along with working in the outdoor industry I generated a number of ideas for products that I thought should see the light of day and Tsuga is the engine for that. All of the products that Tsuga makes are inspired by me and the members of the design team’s pursuit of outdoor interests.

2. Can you discuss any recent innovations or product launches at Tsuga that reflect your commitment to quality and durability in outdoor gear?

Tsuga is poised on the cusp of launching a number of products focused on MTB and off-road cycling across the nation and ultimately internationally. We feel like Tsuga is ready to become a respected and well-known national brand.

3. How has Tsuga benefited from its membership in the Outdoor Business Alliance, and what collaborative opportunities have you pursued with other members?

Tsuga has provided a number of OBA members with cut & sew services and also some design work.  The OBA has always been a great place to kick around ideas, get opinions and feedback, and insights into what has and hasn’t worked for other members.

4. What community initiatives or outreach programs is Tsuga currently involved in, and how do these efforts align with your company values?

Our love for mountain biking is no secret and we support the Northwest NC MTB Alliance and their efforts to maintain and further develop the trails in Pisgah. We are also long-term supporters of the Blue Ridge Conservancy.
